We make custom joinery for residential and commercial buildings

Custom Joinery New Plymouth

We make custom joinery from our purpose-built factory on Sunley St, Borrell Park, Westown, New Plymouth. The joinery options have increased to include awning, casement, horizontal & vertical sliding, bifold, and servery windows. Bifold, sliding, stacker and french doors. Conservatories, roofs, screens and impressive statement entrance doors. We also retrofit old aluminium joinery to double glazing and have our own install team.

There have been many changes over the years but high-quality joinery, customer satisfaction and positive staff relationships remain the principals at the heart of the family business. The Seymour team continue to supply quality custom joinery for private clients and group builders for a broad range of residential and commercial projects. Earning them many awards over the years.

Seymour Windows and Doors

the seymour story

Back in 1970 Geoff Lay started in the aluminium joinery trade with Boon Brothers Ltd, working out of a tiny house in New Plymouth.  This was the first ‘factory’.  He has since moved six times as business has grown.  At the time, the only joinery options were awning windows, ranch sliders and hinge doors.  They came up as welded frames from Seymour Industries in Christchurch by rail, this is where the Seymour name originally came from.

In 1983 Geoff was joined by his wife Penny, starting their own business under the Seymour brand of joinery.  Then in 1992 Geoff and Penny joined the Vantage brand of joinery and chose to keep the Seymour name.

The family business has grown over the years, both their sons, their daughter and daughters-in-law, along with 20 staff all now working for the business.  Fast forward to 2019, Geoff and Penny have stepped back and handed the reigns over to sons Nick and Tony and rebranded the company to Seymour Windows & Doors.
